Vsevolod Myrnyi, an activist from Zaporizhzhia and now part of my community in New York. In 2014, when Russia’s war against Ukraine began in eastern Ukraine, he served in the military. The trident pendant he always wears was made in his hometown of Zaporizhzhia and symbolizes the resilience and unbreakable spirit of the Ukrainian people.

Where We Stand

WHERE WE STAND explores how the Russian war in Ukraine continues to shape the lives of Ukrainians thousands of kilometers from the frontline. Through the experiences of friends and activists living in the U.S., the project reflects on activism at a distance and the invisible work of remembering, advocating, and staying connected to Ukraine.
