Girlhood

Girlhood provides a glimpse into the world of young girls and women living in a post-pandemic world. The recurring themes include identity, relationships, the sexualization of their young bodies or the pressure exerted by social networks. The pictures cover events like high school graduation, the first love, getting married at the age of 18 and much more.

Soňa Maletz is a film director and photographer, currently teaching Documentary Photography at VŠVU. She finished her studies at FAMU in Prague with the documentary about the musician Marián Varga. During her studies, she spent two semesters in the UK at the Institute of Photography at Falmouth University. Lately she has come to the spotlight as the creator of the TV show Death To Photography.
