Queer culture / art / performance (Pandoranoxx) (from series)

The project focuses on documenting events such as Tepláreň Kabaret, burlesque performances, and Dragrift. The photographs offer a glimpse behind the scenes—into the relationships and personal lives of the performers. Queer culture in Slovakia is still not fully understood or accepted, which is why I want to serve as a medium that helps introduce it to a broader audience. (The winner of Drag Race Germany, who is living proof and a prime example that drag is for everyone — including women.)

My name is Johanna Bukovsky, and I am a student at VŠVU in Bratislava. I focus on photographing reportage and documentary projects. One of my projects is Queer Culture/Art/Performance. Through photographing events such as Tepláreň Kabaret, burlesque shows and Dragrift, I aim to make queer art more visible to a wider audience. The LGBTQ community in Slovakia is still not accepted or understood.
