The moon-like landscape, where 13 villages stood 60 years ago, lies at the bottom of the Liptovská Mara reservoir. The low water level has revealed an old road that once connected them.

Several water reservoirs in Slovakia are currently facing the problem of drying up. Liptovská Mara, Orava Dam and Domaša have extremely low water levels.
