Sun-dried fish – a traditional Portuguese way. This ancestral tradition is a woman's skill that has been passed down from mothers to daughters over the years and persists to this day.
name

Manuela of Nazaré

Although Nazaré is world-famous for its gigantic waves and surfing competitions, on a nearby beach lies one of the country's oldest traditions: sun-drying fish. 89-year-old Manuela has been drying and selling fish since she was 7 years old. This ancestral tradition is a woman's skill that has been passed down from mothers to daughters over the years and persists to this day.
