Cuba Libre (Free Cuba) is an alcoholic cocktail invented in Havana around 1900. Its name is derived from US soldiers toasting to free Cuba with this drink. Máximo Gómez was the chief general of the Cuban Army in the fight for independence. His statue can be seen in the background.
