Being Themselves is an activist photojournalistic project on transgender people in Slovakia. The main purpose is to raise the general public’s social awareness and eliminate prejudice against transgender people through true and real stories of people and to support the trans-community in our country. The project seeks to present their lives in a human and sensitive way and with empathy. The portraits show transgender people with strong self-awareness and demonstrate their "real self". After all, we are all equal – souls that want to live happily, in a solidary way, souls that wish to be understood and accepted by society. The project is carried out in co-operation with the Transfúzia civic association.
