I’ve been photographing my younger sister for several years. The series captures the beginning of the relatively long period of time, the ambiguous nature of the emotional transition of a girl becoming a woman, the development stage characterised by searching one’s own identity. It is not my intention to capture the sweet, innocent aspects of childhood; on the contrary, I want to confront the reality of the girl who is (not) aware of the complications of her transition to adulthood full of contradictions, her vulnerability related to accepting her own body, the feeling of loneliness and the lack of understanding.
