Environmentalists saving the wetlands of the Bodrog region

The Bodrog Region is rightly considered a ‘terra incognita’. This area was often flooded in the past; today, it is drying up. Environmentalists are trying to save at least part of the area where rare birds nest. During February and March, they spent days and nights in a small caravan at low temperatures, filling oil in the pump every 5–7 hours. They managed to gradually raise the water surface by 40–120 cm and pumped in around 200–400 million litres of water. Activists and volunteers worked for more than six weeks almost without a break.
